Graphic artist.

Fast-paced public relations firm McCabe Message Partners seeks a creative, hyper-organized graphic artist to join its talented team. DC-based Message Partners communicates about health and the issues that affect it. We work on meaningful issues in a fun and challenging environment. Comprised of 30 professionals, some of whom excelled in the healthcare practices of the nation’s largest PR firms, our agency combines the expertise and client roster of a national firm with the heart and soul of a boutique business.

Message Partners seeks a graphic artist with at least two years of relevant experience to work with its Washington, DC-based team. Our graphic artist plays a prominent role in the day-to-day running of accounts, so project management and strong attention to details are required, as are creativity and the ability to work quickly, sometimes under pressure. Typical assignments include client presentations, issue briefs, reports on public policy, data briefs, infographics, social media images, advertising , logo and brand development, and new business proposals. We have a strong interest in adding more video, photo and gif images to our work. 

Successful candidates will have the portfolio, demeanor and creativity to work successfully with the firm’s staff, clients, vendors and other agency partners.

Digital Strategist - Healthcare

McCabe Message Partners—an award-winning, DC-based public relations agency specializing in health and the issues that affect it—is looking for a skilled Digital Strategist to help drive highly effective awareness and advocacy campaigns. We work with supportive clients on meaningful issues in a fastpaced, fun, and challenging environment. Our clients include many of the nation’s leading healthcare foundations, medical societies, trade associations, academic institutions, and others. They communicate with a variety of audiences, including consumers, policymakers, care providers, and opinion leaders.

Comprised of 28 team members, some of whom excelled in the healthcare practices of the nation’s largest PR firms, the agency combines the expertise and client roster of a national firm with the heart and soul of a boutique business. We seek creative, organized candidates with at least five years of experience, strong writing and presentation skills, knowledge of health and healthcare, and the latest digital communication tactics and tools. Prior agency experience is preferred but not required.

Typical projects include … contributing to the development of a client’s digital presence; forming an online marketing communications strategy; leading online advertising strategies for clients; helping to develop videos, podcasts, and other digital content; achieving search engine optimization; analyzing results and user experience for tactics involving various digital channels; and staying abreast of the latest interactive trends and digital tools. The successful candidate may also write products; participate in client calls to provide counsel; be part of targeted media pitches; manage vendors; conduct research to inform our work; and more.

We work with supportive clients on meaningful issues in a fast-paced, fun, and challenging environment. Our clients include many of the nation’s leading healthcare foundations, medical societies, trade associations, academic institutions, and others. They communicate with a variety of audiences, including consumers, policymakers, care providers, opinion leaders, and others.

Comprised of 28 team members, some of whom excelled in the healthcare practices of the nation’s largest PR firms, the agency combines the expertise and client roster of a national firm with the heart and soul of a boutique business. We seek creative, organized candidates with at least five years of communications experience, strong writing and presentation skills, and knowledge of health, healthcare, and public policy. Prior successful experience as a reporter, press secretary, or working in a similar capacity – ideally at a PR firm – is required.

Typical projects include … developing media strategies to publicize clients’ policy proposals or advocacy issues; writing and editing effective news releases and opinion-editorials; helping to plan and execute press events; securing informal briefings between clients and reporters; developing and maintaining robust media lists; tracking results; and nurturing ongoing, professional relationships with print, broadcast and digital media covering health and healthcare. The successful candidate will lead effective pitches to secure (i) news stories that feature research or analyses developed by clients, and (ii) feature stories that explore emerging approaches to health improvement.Most importantly, the successful candidate will have the ability to digest complex information and translate it into media coverage. She/he will be results driven and manage multiple projects simultaneously; participate in client calls to provide counsel; inform the content and design of media products; conduct research to inform our work; create and track metrics to demonstrate performance and improvement; and advise agency leadership on the latest trends driving success in media relations.

Intern

McCabe Message Partners, a niche PR firm focused on health and healthcare, is looking for a paid, full-time intern. Interns are vital members of account teams and participate in a variety of client-related activities. Responsibilities may include preparing targeted media lists, assisting in event planning and execution, conducting research, assisting in partnership development, monitoring coverage in national and local media, participating in brainstorms, and providing administrative support. McCabe interns gain valuable experience in media relations, partnership-building, and health policy, and often contribute to and provide support for major events and press conferences. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, and the internship will begin in early January.

Prerequisites

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in communications and/or health policy
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to juggle multiple assignments
  • Extraordinary attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills
  • Ability to proofread a variety of materials quickly and effectively; familiarity with AP Style a plus
  • High energy and strong interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable speaking on the phone
  • Ability and willingness to understand complex client topics and issues
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (including basic design, formatting, and using formulas)
  • Proficiency in working with various social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter)

Compensation

  • The position is full time—40 hours a week at $16/hour
    • Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
